Meet the Team- Sarah Hightower

Sarah Hightower
Stylist

1) How long have you worked for Hot Mama?

I have only been working with Hot Mama for about a month, but I am loving it.  It's so fun to work with friendly and fun women, and talk to all of the women that come in to shop.

2) What is your favorite thing about living in St. Louis?

Although there's a lot to love about St. Louis, I would have to say Forest Park is my favorite.  It is such a beautiful park with so much to do.  Plus, I love to run and be outside, and Forest Park is filled with great walking/running paths and beautiful scenery!

3) Favorite St. Louis Restaurant?

This is a tough one, considering all of the unique restaurants around town.  It's a toss up between Carl's Drive In and Nachomamas.  Nachomama's is usually our go-to Friday or Saturday night take out, so that probably takes the cake (or should I say the margarita!)

4) What are your favorite brands at Hot Mama?

I love and have always loved Free People.  They have such unique and comfortable pieces!

5) Jeans? Skinny, straight, cut, flare or ankle?

I'm pretty often a skinny cut kind of girl.  The ankle cut goes into affect a lot for me too, because I'm really tall...so this style is working for me these days :)

6) What is your favorite Hot Mama core value?

"We build authentic relationships" - For being someone who loves people and values friendships, it is a really cool experience to go into work where you can get to know the mom's and women that come into the store.

7) What part of the Hot Mama manifesto best describes you?

It's a mixture between "The Loudest Cheerleader" and "Call the friend who makes you laugh".  I am a people-person through and through, and I love spending quality time with people - old and new friends alike.  Maybe because I was the tall, awkward kid, but I strongly dislike bullying (who doesn't), so I always want people to be encouraged by what makes them unique and  what makes them feel good about themselves! I love the opportunity to share a compliment with someone, because we all should hear more uplifting things about ourselves.  And who doesn't love to laugh with their friends?! That's the best kind of way to pass the time, in my opinion.

8) What trend are you most excited about this season?

I will always have some preppy in me, but I am in love with the BOHO style too!

Meet the Team- Hayley Williams

Hayley Williams

How long have you worked for Hot Mama?

I will have worked at Hot Mama for one year on June 11. It’s true what they say: time flies when you’re having fun!

-What is your favorite thing about living in St Louis?

I love the Cardinals and toasted ravioli as much as the next guy, but the real reason I love living here is because I get to be near my family--especially my five (soon to be six!) itty bitty nieces and nephews. I'm fully, hopelessly addicted to them.

-Favorite St Louis restaurant.

My favorite STL restaurant is currently Anthonino’s Taverna on The Hill. I love the combination of knock-your-socks off food and put-your-feet-up atmosphere.

-What are your favorite brands at Hot Mama?

Free People and AG are my top favorite Hot Mama brands. I am in charge of receiving in all the new merchandise, and when I get to open a box from one of these two I’m like a kid on Christmas morning!

-Jeans? Skinny, straight, boot-cut, flare or ankle?

Skinny, skinny and more skinny!

-What is your favorite Hot Mama core value?

My favorite Hot Mama core value is “we build authentic relationships." I think that is what really sets us apart from other retailers. We’re not just interested in making a sale; we want to get to know our moms.

-What part of the Hot Mama Manifesto best describes you?

I'm not a hot mama, but did I mention my nieces and nephews? My sister says I'm sort of a "mom #2" to them, and I can definitely relate to being “the tear wiper” and “mac and cheese maker.” Kids cry a lot, and usually they stop when you make them mac and cheese. Mac and cheese makes me stop crying, too.

-What trend are you most excited about this season?

I know Boho Chic is the trend on everyone's tongues right now, but there's a reason for that. It's the epitome of effortless style--the notion that you can simply toss on a few favorites and come out looking so perfect, so YOU. My favorite elements of this trend are hats, kimono cardigans, cut-off shorts and distressed denim.

Meet the Team-Franny Powers

Franny Powers
Currently Assistant Manager, moving to Manage Chesterfield

Where are you originally from? Or where did you grow up?
I grew up in University City, I went away to college at The University of Dayton in Ohio.  I lived and worked in Cincinnati after I graduated and moved back to St. Louis 5 years ago!

-Where did you go to High School? (a little STL humor:))
Ursuline!  GO UA!

-What is your favorite thing about living in St Louis? or What are your favorite things to do in St Louis?
I have a really big family and when I moved back, most of my siblings were here.  Now, everyone is scattered around which is sort of a bummer BUT they're all in really great places to visit!  San Francisco, Colorado, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  (I am 1 of 6 kids!)  One of my brothers has been traveling through South America for over a year and just made it back from Antarctica.  I wouldn't go visit him there, but maybe somewhere else along his journey!

-Favorite St Louis restaurant.
Mi Ranchito or Five Star Burger - they have the best fries and shakes!

-What are your favorite brands at Hot Mama?
AG, Free People, Splendid, Dylan, Central Park West and so many others.  I love the variety of brands and pieces that our buyers bring in.  I truly believe that there is something for everyone here.  From shoes + jewelry to jeans + tops, there is never a dull moment in our store!  New things every day make it so fun for us to play and try new things.  Hot Mama is such a safe place to embrace new trends and try on things we normally wouldn't try.

-Jeans? Skinny, straight, boot-cut, flare or ankle?
Skinny!  I had 1 pair before working at Hot Mama and now that's pretty much all I own.  I am also loving boyfriend jeans for Spring and Summer, they're so comfortable but styled at the same time.

-What is your favorite Hot Mama core value?
My favorite core value is that we create positive feel-good energy in all of our stores.  It's so important to have fun and make everyone feel great in our store.  My goal is to have fun getting to know our customers and educate them on styles, trends, brands, and especially fit.  We are around our clothes all day long, so when people come in, they look to us as the style experts.  That's such a great responsibility but one that I take very seriously!  I hope everyone leaves our store feeling great and with a smile.  This all leads into our other core values, but I think that this is where they all start!

-What part of the Hot Mama Manifesto best describes you?
I am not a Mom yet (I recently got engaged!) but I can definitely relate to parts of our Manifesto.  At work and in all successful relationships, you have to be a faithful listener.  People appreciate listeners!  I am always working on becoming a better listener and also asking the right questions.  I can relate to Pursue your passions, Remember your dreams.  Right now I am excited to take on a new adventure at work (opening our new store in Chesterfield Mall) and I am excited for the next big step in my life, marriage!  I have to set goals and work hard, but I have the help of our amazing team of Stylists at Frontenac and also Megan and our Director!

-What trend are you most excited about this season?
I dressed very preppy before working at Hot Mama.  I still am preppy, but I love mixing the Boho Chic and also Street Chic styles into my wardrobe.  Some days I feel more casual and other times I feel more preppy or bohemian!  This determines what I will wear....I'm usually wearing a skinny or straight leg jean (I love bootcut but I can't work in heels or wedges all day).  If you looked in my closet, you will see a lot of stripes, polka dots and bright colors!  I think it's fun to mix and match and dress a little different every day.  Lately, I've been loving jackets and vests.  I'm really into layering!

How long have you worked for Hot Mama?
I just had my 2 year anniversary in February.  It has flown by and I'm getting really excited to open a second location in Chesterfield Mall.  Megan and I got to open up Frontenac together which was was such a great experience.  I am looking forward to meeting more Hot Mama's out west and sharing what we do with so many more people!

What's your favorite part of working here?
Meeting new people every single day and also seeing the familiar faces of the women we have really gotten to know.  It's crazy to think how many people we have met in the last 2 years and how many more we get to meet!  There are thousands of inspiring Hot Mama's running around St. Louis and I'm grateful that they have spend time in our store letting us get to know them.  Styling is really fun and I love it, but so many of the Mom's we meet touch our lives more than they may know.  So thank you STL Hot Mama's for making my job not feel like work! :)

Meet the Team- Megan Callan

Megan Callan
Manager

Where are you originally from?  What high school did you go to?
I grew up in St. Louis and went to Ladue High School.  I lived in Chicago for 7 years, where I met my husband and found Hot Mama. I'm so excited to be back in my hometown and empower the moms of St. Louie.

How long have you worked for Hot Mama?
I’m on my 5th year at Hot Mama and I can’t imagine myself anywhere else. I LOVE moms and feel honored that I get to serve them every day.

-What is your favorite thing about living in St Louis?
My favorite thing about living in St. Louis is that my family is here. I have a wonderful support system and feel blessed that my son, Finn, has such great people surrounding him. It takes a village!

-Favorite St Louis restaurant.
We’re a pizza family, so La Pizza would probably be the favorite. For a girl’s night out, it would have to be Tani…Mmm sushi.

-What are your favorite brands at Hot Mama?
AG and Free People. Ag’s fit an array of body types and is our #1 selling brand. Free People has eclectic pieces that I can throw on and instantly feel styled.

-Jeans? Skinny, straight, boot-cut, flare or ankle?
Skinny’s and ankle denim are my go-to! I’ve jumped on the cuffing bandwagon and am OBSESSED with our new Superga sneakers.  Running around with my little guy requires functional pieces.

-What is your favorite Hot Mama core value?
“We make mom’s look and feel hot”. I truly believe that when you look good, you feel good. As a mom it is easy to lose sight of who you are when you are focused on raising a family. My hope is that anyone who comes into our store feels like they get the time and attention they deserve and leave feeling better than when they came in.

-What part of the Hot Mama Manifesto best describes you?
I currently connect with the “tear-wiper” and “let the dog clean up the crumbs."  Between my 14 month old teething, walking, falling and exploring new foods, I am practicing an amount of patience that I never knew I had. My dogs have gained an obscene amount of weight from brushing the high chair crumbs onto the floor (so much easier, right?!).

-What trend are you most excited about this season?
Boho Chic: The feminine trend with no rules! Boho chic allows are moms to play with contrast, lace + leather, florals + stripes, bright colors + neutrals, bootcut jeans + flowy tops. Our moms don’t need to think too hard when putting an outfit together using boho chic styles - anything goes!
